A Time to Rest

To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

If there is a time for everything why can’t I find time to relax. Time to reflect. Time to spend alone with God. When did life get so busy? When did there become so many responsibilities? So many ways to be helpful? To be productive? It seems lately that our little family has become too busy. By the end of the day I am always, always exhausted.

So, we went away for a weekend to a place of rest. My parents place. Also known as “The Cottage”. We spent a weekend reading, relaxing, taking walks. The girls even went swimming. We came home and I felt rested for the first time in what seemed like forever. I’m telling you, I even got to sleep in until 7:00 am each day. It was glorious.

I plan to experiment this week by taking a little more down time. I’m going to see if the world caves in or if I feel better because of it. Why don’t you experiment with me? Take some time to recharge yourself. A little each day. Let me know how it goes.
